The Big Payback - Build A Foundation

Owning a Home

Habitat homes are not free. Homes are purchased through a mortgage loan provided by Habitat at 0 % interest, and includes property taxes and homeowners insurance.  To be eligible, applicants must meet three criteria:
1.Have a housing need,
2.Ability to afford homeownership, and
3.Willingness to partner with the Habitat program.
Future Habitat homeowners, or Partner Families, will be supported in the homeownership process through our Homebuyer Education Classes, volunteering on the build site and at Habitat’s retail outlet, the ReStore. Our curriculum teaches successful homeownership through classes such as: financial management and budgeting and home maintenance and repair.  On the build site, Partner Families join community volunteers to build their own home and neighbors’ homes in an approximately 12-week build cycle.
Habitat family partnerships enable dignity of life for those who choose it and work to achieve it, help to create safer neighborhoods for more children, and facilitate a pathway of hope.
