The Big Payback - Build A Foundation

Critical Home Repairs

Sometimes existing homeowners need a little help to keep their homes in safe and working condition. Our Critical Home Repair Program serves veterans, seniors (60+), and persons with disabilities. The Program serves qualifying families in the following ways:

1. Exterior painting and/or siding
2. Landscaping
3. Improving energy efficiency and/or air quality within the home
4. Performing interior or exterior work to alleviate health, safety, or code deficiencies, including handicapped accessibility

Families applying for Critical Home Repairs must demonstrate need, the ability to pay, and a willingness to partner.  Families must submit a Home Repair Application, go through the Family Selection Process, and be willing to contribute ‘sweat equity hours’ (determined by length of project).  The contractor for Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County must approve the feasibility of the project.  If approved, a project budget is set and terms of payment are established and agreed upon by both parties.

Currently, Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County is accepting Home Repair Applications for Fall '18 projects. It is hoped that we can expand work with Critical Home Repairs in the future.
